Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch is a historic oasis in the Tonto National Forest. The ranch lies along the Lower Salt River just below Saguaro Lake, in the shadow of the scenic Goldfield Mountains. At Saguaro Lake Ranch - life is simple. Sun-filled days, exciting adventures, idyllic star-lit nights, and good company. Our 20 rustic cabins with panoramic views of the wilderness make our property a true oasis in Arizona's Sonoran Desert. ***LODGING TAX of 7.27% will be charged separately upon arrival. The main ranch house has a wide porch overlooking a shaded lawn with a full view of the imposing Bulldog cliffs. In its early days, the lodge functioned as the mess hall, ice house, and commissary for the construction crew who lived on the site while building the Stewart Mountain Dam from 1927 to 1930. The central feature of our dining room is a giant saguaro cactus skeleton which used to stand at the bottom of Saguaro Lake. Seating for 60 is available at tables of four to ten surrounding the cactus. If you’re searching for AZ guest ranches, you’ll discover our ranch is the perfect place to relax and escape hectic city life. There are no TVs, radios, clocks, or phones in our 20 guest cabins for that very reason (although those amenities are available in the main lodge.) Even though we are a rustic ranch, our rooms are well-maintained, quaint, and decorated in a western style. All have their own bathrooms, and each is heated and air conditioned. For reheating prepared foods each cabin has a small refrigerator and microwave. Enjoy our “cowboy” breakfast with eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, yogurt, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee/tea. We also serve one of the following each morning – blueberry pancakes, French toast, or waffles, with butter and syrup.
Very unique place in the world! We have fond memories here now look forward to coming back. Wylene
We stayed a week at the ranch. It is an absolutely fantastic place to stay. It is located within the Tonto National Forest, so there isn't much near the ranch in the way of restaurants, stores, etc... but the ranch provides a full hot delicious breakfast every morning, and on the weekends the cowboy cookouts and BBQ dinners are excellent. Think beef brisket that has been smoked for 19 hours.... Tons of outdoor activities right on the ranch or Tonto NF parking passes are available for sale at the front desk to explore nearby. We went horseback riding, kayaking, and went on many hikes on the desert trails (ask at the front desk for maps to the trails that start from the ranch). It is also close enough to Meteor Crater, Sedona, Payson, etc. for a day trip. The scenery around the ranch was just breath taking and many amenities on-site, the aforementioned horseback riding and kayaking, along with a heated pool, ping pong, corn hole, etc. Our cabin was clean and well appointed, the bed was comfortable and the shower had adequate water pressure. The ranch manager John and his entire staff are very friendly and extremely helpful... everyone we interacted with was just top notch. I highly recommend a stay at the ranch and I will definitely be back!
During your stay, you must experience the “Old West” the real cowboy way – on horseback. You’ll find some of the best horseback riding in all of Arizona is right on our doorstep. Our experienced wranglers and horses will make sure you have both a fun and a safe ride. Additionally, there is no better way to enjoy the cool water and marvel at the beautiful Tonto National Forest than to go kayaking or tubing on the Lower Salt River! As you float down the Salt River below thousand-foot cliffs and beside majestic saguaros in the Sonoran Desert, keep your eyes open. You could see wild horses, deer, great blue herons, osprey, bald eagles, and other native wildlife. Outdoor activities on property include: Swimming Pool, Hiking, Lawn Games, Fishing, Bird Watching *Fee based activities *Kayaking, *Tubing, & *Horseback Riding – The Lower Salt River stretch begins here at the Ranch, just below Saguaro Lake, and runs right alongside our property. Water flowing past the ranch does vary but flow year round and is one of the most scenic settings in our State, with abundant Arizona Upland Sonoran Desert vegetation and wildlife.
