Duration: 45 mins [00:00 - 00:20] — Basics of Japanese Sake and Honkaku Shochu [00:20 - 00:30] — Enjoyment through Sake Vessels [00:30 - 00:45] — Sake and Shochu Tasting The Japan Sake and Shochu Information Center; is a PR facility of the Japanese Sake and Shochu Makers Association, with the purpose of introducing the entire charm of Japanese Sake, Honkaku Shochu, and Awamori to people worldwide through seeing, touching, and experiencing their history and culture. The facility features symbolic items related to Japanese national alcoholic beverages, including large wooden barrel displays and various tools, along with exhibitions of sake vessels from various regions. Visitors can also sample approximately 100 varieties of Japanese sake, Honkaku Shochu, and Mirin which items change almost every month. For Airbnb experience, we have prepared a special sake and shochu tasting course led by the Center's director.

Join me, a longtime mural preservationist, as I reveal the stories behind the eye-popping street art in two of Tokyo’s trendiest neighborhoods: Shibuya and Harajuku. • In between spotting graffiti tags and admiring massive murals, we’ll duck into secret alleyways, abandoned buildings, and underground spots that are only known by locals. • For daytime sessions, we’ll also stop by galleries and view current art exhibitions (when available). Let’s go on a walking journey through Tokyo’s unique streets and alleyways where Showa retro—a time period that shaped much of Japan’s modern identity—comes alive. I’ll show you some of my favorite coffee shops, vintage record stores, and drinking spots. • After meeting at Jimbocho station, we’ll walk to a kissaten, an old-style Japanese coffeehouse, and the beating heart of Showa retro Japan. This enduring blend of Western coffee culture and 1960s and ’70s sensibilities provides the perfect backdrop to chat about this vibrant period in Japan’s history. • Next, I’ll lead you to some of my favorite shops in Jimbocho for vintage goods, vinyl records, stationery, and retro magazines, where you can shop until Japan’s groovy past belongs to you. • Eat at a yoshoku restaurant, a western-influenced style of fusion cooking, where you’ll taste some of the most authentic dishes and wash them down with a tasty beverage. We'll visit Omoide Yokocho, Kabukicho, and Golden Gai, taking you to hidden izakayas and bars that only locals know about! The tour starts in the red lantern-adorned local izakaya area of Omoide Yokocho or the bustling district of Kabukicho. Next, we'll head to Kabukicho, Japan's largest neon-lit entertainment district, where interesting shops and unique characters will leave a lasting impression. Afterward, we'll visit the Golden Gai area. As we have connections to bars that don't accept general customers, our tour will grant you access to these hidden gems. We will explore the greater part of Shinjuku, the busiest area in Tokyo to show you popular spots as well as hidden gems. We'll have a couple of bites during the city walk. We'll then head to two izakaya restaurants that are popular among the locals. Places we visit range from modern to traditional, and if you are looking to try just ramen and sushi, this might not be the right one for you. Throughout the evening, we’ll taste different Japanese foods and drinks, learn about our pub food culture and history, and spend time with other foodies. Also, we offer an optional sake tasting session where we will try 5+ different craft & seasonal sake at our own sake bar in Shinjuku before the tour at 3:30pm (optional & price not included). *We may have extra spots available even if you don't see availability. Please send a message to ask! Other things to note We will walk a lot! Wear comfortable shoes and come hungry. Let me know if you have food restrictions beforehand. Walking tours and photo sessions in Tokyo by Paulo

We will meet and start at the busiest train station in the world, Shinjuku station east exit. Then we will walk to the atmospheric alleyways of Omoideyokocho, where we can see a plethora of small Japanese izakayas that mostly offers yakitori or chicken skewers. Then next we will walk to the Kabukicho area, This entertainment district is filled with bright lights, bars, restaurants, and pachinko parlors as well as touts and hustlers. This place is also where you can find the famous Godzilla road and then from there, we will go to the Golden Gai, which is a collection of mismatched tumbledown bars lining alleyways. After this, (IF TIME PERMITS) We can also move to Shibuya, via the JR Yamanote line train and show you the young and vibrant visual of Tokyo. In daytime, we can detour to one of Tokyo’s most popular parks, the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. The park's spacious lawns, meandering walking paths, and tranquil scenery provide a relaxing escape from the busy urban center around it. (Park’s entrance fee not included) The tour is going to be approx. 2 hours. All of these while I take some candid and posed photos of you. If you want to do it in a different location, please let me know. Feel free to ask about available days and book any day which suits you best.
