We’ll explore Lisbon’s diverse cultural heritage and the forgotten tradition of danced fado through storytelling, music, and movement. • Learn about the African roots of fado and the history of danced fado, a nearly lost tradition that’s a kind of Portuguese blues. We’ll discuss how fado evolved through human migration, colonial history, and cultural fusion. • Experience danced fado in a guided lesson. I’ll demonstrate key movements, and you’ll have the opportunity to engage with the creators of this unique art form. • Explore Lisbon’s Afro-Portuguese heritage by tuk-tuk, visiting key sites such as Mouraria, Rossio Square, and Largo de São Domingos. Along the way, we’ll listen to fado and connect the music to the history we’re discussing. Our journey ends in iconic places, where we’ll reflect on fado’s cultural significance and enjoy a final moment listening to its melodies.

Capture Lisbon's award-winning buildings with a photographer

Join me, a photographer, for a unique walking tour of Lisbon’s historical streets, exploring iconic buildings that have won the prestigious Valmor Architecture Award and learning how to capture their beauty and significance. • Visit award-winning buildings, from homes and palaces to offices and cinemas, and connect with the city’s landscape. I’ll point out architectural elements, and offer an overview of the Valmor Prize’s historical significance. • For structures that no longer exist, we’ll engage in an exercise of memory, documenting the traces of their presence and honoring their legacy through storytelling and emotional reflection. • Pause for coffee at Cinema São Jorge, an Art Deco gem, where I’ll discuss the challenges of preserving Lisbon’s architectural heritage. You’ll leave with a rich library of images and a deeper knowledge of the city’s evolving urban landscape.

It’s an ideal setting to learn how to take stunning shots with the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge as your backdrop. • Our photo tour will wrap at my studio, where we’ll enjoy a relaxed photo chat and discuss ways to shoot the perfect portrait whether it's using LED, flash or natural light. After all Lisbon is a city of beautiful light. You’ll walk away with a new ability for taking portraits and one-of-a-kind images of Lisbon.
