This Tiny Home is nestled at a distance from the other cabins on property and offers a surreal, isolated, & unparalleled view of The Majestic Turtle Rock, a one-of-a-kind view. This little cottage has massive appeal with 360 degree windows, a serene escape from every angle; from your living room you will be greeted by our Orchard bearing apples, peaches, & black walnuts during rainy season, featuring our 200 plus year old apple tree, hence the name, Appletree Cottage. Surprisingly, this 180 sqft home seems double it's size due to the ingenious floor plan and natural light shining through those big beautiful windows, captivating Mother Nature at her finest. We have completed this contemporary tiny home into a rustic, artistic, charming palette to suit any soul with spirit, love, & respect of Southwestern artwork embracing colors that promote relaxation & rejuvenation in style. Appletree Cottage comes equip with all modern amenities including: full size bed, microwave, mini fridge, stove, full size shower & toilet Wi-Fi & TV, and of course, is a fully furnished cottage as your Home away from Home. To enhance your stay in the tiny home, you have your very own firepit with handmade, rustic seating, a space purposefully designed for outdoor eating, viewing, & relaxing, & a BBQ pit with a tiny home outdoor kitchen of sorts. Appletree is closest to Bear Creek Canyon & The Double E Ranch Trailhead Mountain, literally steps from your door, The Mountains Are Calling!!!
The Apple Tree Cottage rental is situated along Bear Creek Canyon at an elevation of 4800 feet. Our Southwestern New Mexico location, with its near perfect weather year round is hard to beat! Average 280+ days of sunshine, stunning blue skies and 7"-13" of rain annually provide milder summers and winter weather folks from up north dream about while shoveling snow! Unexpected beauty is hidden along the valley where Bear Creek meanders; you will find hundreds of acres you can roam freely in southwest New Mexico surrounded by ancient Cottonwood, Pinon and Sycamore trees. Appletree Cottage, along with our 5 other properties, will satisfy your need to disconnect, escape the cold, the crowds, the stress. The quaint Village of Gila is a 10 minute drive away and offers a medical clinic, library, post office, art gallery and is truly the "Gateway to the Gila Forest". Also, convenient to major shopping in Silver City, NM and an easy 32 mile drive, you'll enjoy browsing a variety of shops: antique, boho, shabby chic, silver & turquoise homemade jewelry bodegas, and simply one of a kind shops in the Historic part of Silver City, an adorable, charming city. You'll find a long list of of things to do and see day or evening: fine dining or fast food; Western New Mexico University, Billy the Kid's house, Co-Op Market, our local Farmers Market, theatre, an annual Fiesta, car shows, Little Toad Creek Brewery & Restaurant, art galleries, thrift, & antique stores. The Adventure continues with day trips to Gila Cliff Dwellings, City of Rocks, Wineries, Old Mining & Ghost Towns, The Catwalk, Faywood Hot Springs, & so much more, & day trips to big cities such as Tucson AZ, Las Cruces NM, and El Paso TX are easily made.
Fully furnished, hand crafted & built to impress, the kitchen features 2-burner electric stove top, toaster oven, an apartment-sized refrigerator with freezer, coffee maker, toaster, mini waffle maker, dishes, flatware, cooking pots, utensils and a dining bar (that is easily functional to remain in up or down position) with stools where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. The kitchen features a remote-controlled fan & light & a beautiful kitchen window that opens to see your surrounding 360-degree view. If you should need additional appliances, simply ask, for example- crock pot, blender, etc. Yes, there is actually storage for your groceries and goods in kitchen with a total of 4 main cabinets & multiple sub fixtures containing functional aesthetic. For your convenience, the pantry is supplied with complimentary items such as: spices, teas/coffee, sugar etc., some basic condiments & pantry items. A few miles from your cabin you'll find our local convenience store/gas station stocked with fresh dairy products, eggs, ice cream, bread, canned fruits and vegetables, frozen meat, lunch meat, soda, snacks, etc.- open 7 days a week until 6pm (closest place to get alcohol is in Silver City or Last Chance Liquor).
The hotel quality full size bed beckons you to sleep in just a little longer than usual, all snuggled-up in the luxurious cotton linens all the while mountains surround you. There is hanging space for clothes in the bedroom with a tier shelf for small items. Two of the windows up top will be like Heaven from your bed, while lying there dreaming with eyes wide open, the stars of Gila are like nowhere else, and for the evenings when the star-studded sky isn’t quite enough entertainment, there is also a TV/DVD library. Sorry -- no network, cable or satellite tv stations are available. Wi-fi for steaming video or music using your personal account. There is a 32" wall mounted TV that folds against the wall for unobstructed views and angle's out for perfect viewing while lying in bed, there is a fan & 1 heater in the bedroom & 3 windows for amazing natural light, the back window opens and the breeze blowing in & out is just perfect to keep the tiny home well, just perfect.
The living area in this quaint little gem is an absolute favorite spot to create whatever comes to mind as it features the most stunning view of Turtle Rock lounging back in a comfortable chaise lounge with rugs & throw pillows, and can sleep a small child technically fitting 3 people in The Appletree. The view while sitting here is simply breathtaking, like you are literally sitting at the edge of Turtle Rock, Wow! And with a total of 5 windows in this one room you feel Mother Nature all about you, the back window opens for that NM fresh air. There is 1 heater and 1 remote controlled fan, full length mirror, hanging clothes area, & cubbies for additional storage.
This cabin also boasts a full shower, toilet (not a compost toilet), and a privacy curtain to block sound. There is hanging room for clothes in the bathroom & the mirror opens to store toiletries, medications, etc. We would like to stress, while this is a full feature shower & toilet, the size & space of the room for this area is quite small.
The Appletree Cottage is simply breathtaking & is becoming it's own little entity, with the fruit trees beside blossoming & the rain catch system feeding those blooms, the cycle of life is evident & surrounding, embracing the stunning view of Turtle Rock & the night skies will leave you mesmerized. This amazing Tiny Home will fulfill & supersede with relaxation, rejuvenation, joy & peace of mind & realign. You can enjoy additional views looking toward Bear Creek and its giant cottonwood and sycamore trees; Roadrunners, jackrabbits, hawks, deer, wild turkey & javelinas all call this canyon their home. Take in some of the most stunning star-filled night skies ever imagined. If you sleep better without the glow of city lights and prefer the night sounds of nature to the hum of humanity, then you are going to fall in love with the Appletree Cottage.
As with the other New Mexico Cabin Rental properties, Appletree provides you the opportunity to experience a tiny taste of life on a Southwestern New Mexico Ranch, explore a diverse ecological region, and encounter the recent and ancient past up close. Enjoy the easy pace of a hot summer day on the ranch as you wander the compound and acquaint yourself with the horses. Look for any one of the hundreds of breeds of birds who call the Gila High Desert home as you challenge the summit of Turtle Rock or explore the canyons of the Double E Ranch. Trace the path of the Mimbres Indians who lived along Bear Creek and the Gila River 1300 years ago. Uncover their history through pottery pieces, ancient tools, pictographs and remnants of stone dwellings which can still be readily found along Bear Creek. Introduce yourself to the more recent legendary characters who roamed the hills, mountains and towns in this area, including Billy the Kid, Geronimo, and Ben Lily.
