Signs are landmarks that are often just as memorable as the businesses they advertise. Join a local architect for a 3.4-kilometer (2-mile) walking tour of some of Toronto’s most famous signs, from flashy neon signs to unique street signs. We’ll discuss how local laws and Special Sign Districts influence the look and feel of the city you see around you. • We’ll start by visiting two recently restored neon signs that adorn historic music venues and learn about the famous acts who performed there. • Next, we'll explore Chinatown and discuss the distinctive style of signs that have come to define this neighbourhood. • We'll continue along Dundas Street where you'll spot some smaller signs off the beaten path and hear about the colourful stories behind them. • Then, we’ll wander down to Nathan Phillips Square, where you'll have the opportunity to take a photo with the iconic TORONTO sign and learn how it came to be. You’ll see a different side of Toronto on this walk and develop a new appreciation for the urban environment. I hope it will inspire you to keep looking up at the signs around you as you explore this dynamic city!

Join me, a fashion designer, for a hands-on crochet and knitting workshop at my studio, HotPot Variety, to make your own sustainable piece of clothing—no previous experience necessary! • Hear about the history of crochet, yarn, and the bohemian culture that underpins Toronto’s history from the 1960s and ’70s to the present-day urban art of yarnbombing. • I'll walk you through the techniques for crocheting a seasonally inspired accessory, whether it’s a vibrant T-shirt design for summer or a hoodie balaclava for winter. • Get crocheting! Select from an abundance of materials and yarn colors and patterns to create your one-of-a-kind design. I’ll guide you through the creative process and provide feedback along the way. You’ll leave with your unique handcrafted piece, the pattern for your item to continue crocheting at home, and my recommendations for further exploration of the neighborhood.

About the tour: On our 3-hour small group walking tour of Toronto you will see and learn about city's diversity, history and future. You will also see landmarks such as Harbourfront, Brookfield Place & The Entertainment District. The walk ends at the St. Lawrence Market, considered one the world's great food markets, so bring an appetite. The tour does go into Toronto's PATH an above and below ground labyrinth used by thousands of people daily. Bring your camera, your walking shoes and your questions! Private Tours: Please contact me directly via Airbnb chat if you are interested in a private tour. The current price for a private tour is $299CAD for a group of up to 8 guests. Access & Availability: On this tour, we will enter privately held buildings. For security reasons suitcases/luggage are not permitted in these buildings. After picking you up at your downtown core Toronto Airbnb, or other convenient location, we will start your adventure to Niagara Falls. Along the way we will stop at picturesque waterfalls, an iconic Canadian cafe chain, and an award-winning winery. During short walks along tree lined paths at these smaller falls, you’ll learn about the geology of the area followed by a stop at a coffee shop chain that has become part of the Canadian identity. Then, we’ll hop in the car and continue to Niagara's wine region, where we will stop for a tasting (including ICE wine) at one of Niagara Regions most award-winning wineries. After a delicious sit-down lunch, we go to the world-famous Niagara Falls where you will bathe in the mist from the Falls as we walk along the rim of the Niagara Gorge. We will have more than enough time for guests to participate in one of these optional self-led activities: the historic Niagara Boat Cruise (April to November) or The Journey Behind the Falls when the boat is not available (December to April) Following our visit to the upper edge of the mighty Horseshoe Falls we will return direct to Toronto. If you do not see a preferred date on the calendar, please request a date that is suitable for you and your group. Feel free to ASK me any questions. The experience is a 16 course gelato tasting with a visit to the gelato lab where all the creative flavours are tested & produced. During the tour I will explain the differences between Icecream & gelato , the science behind gelato, production of gelato and the history behind the company. My unique back ground of being a chemical engineer and a chef will give you a unique perspective of the art of gelato. We have flavours that are seasonal and creative. Flavours such as smoked chocolate and bourbon, cheeseboard, Thai ice tea, pistachio baklava, coconut lemon cream Pai, peanut butter and croissants etc… are among many you may taste.. we are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions. This fun experience can be enjoyed at any age. We are located at 1418 Dundas Street West.

Using real sterling silver, tiny saws, hammers, and fire, you'll create your very own ring. I'll teach you how to measure, cut, solder, bend, file, and polish your custom creation. You can also texturize or letter stamp it to make it truly one of a kind. You'll leave wearing your new ring with a sense of great accomplishment and the perfect souvenir. Other things to note: This experience runs between 2.5-3.5 hours long depending on your design choices and work ethic. Average class time is 3 hours. Safety is important in the studio! Please wear closed-toed shoes and avoid wearing long or flowing clothing. Bring eyeglasses if you need them.
