The highlight of our time in Kyoto!! Kumiko is such a sweet soul who wants to share her life here with you. She took us to special places and then to an incredible restaurant after where we talked, laughed and ate delicious food!

Kumiko (the host) was very nice and had extensive local knowledge. She took us to, and recommended, shops and eateries that are popular with locals (not aimed at tourists). She also explained the history of some of the shops and how the market has changed before and after COVID. It was a very enjoyable experience.

This was without doubt one of the absolute highlights of our time in Japan.
Kumiko was a wonderful host - so friendly and knowledgeable about all the places we visited.
We really felt like we experienced a slice of real life in Kyoto.
I can’t recommend this highly enough - it would the first thing I booked if I was ever to come back to Kyoto.

What a wonderful night tour with Kumiko. She led a walk out of the main shopping area, down quieter side streets, across the river to the other side of Kyoto, and through more traditional districts — telling background stories and history among the way. The scenery was beautiful and her insights made it so interesting.

Then we made our way to a small izakaya where we had an intimate dining experience with the chef and a few locals. The food was amazing (and perfectly accommodating for my vegetarian/allergy needs) and the convos were entertaining.

By the end of the evening, I felt like I had a taste of local life and that I was saying goodbye to a new friend. I was a little sad for it to end.
